Our Services...

Medical Transportation
(Urgently need additional volunteers for this service).
Drivers take older adults no longer able to drive to medical and therapy appointments. To request a drive, call our office at least three business days and no more than three weeks prior to your appointment. We will strive to find a driver for you. Provide your, and your appointment's, name, address, ZIP, and phone number; and the date and time of the appointment to the SCFB office.

Friendly Caller/Visitor Program
Our caring, dependable, adult volunteers call or visit once a week, at a regularly scheduled time, for an informal chat.  The focus of this service is to let shut-ins know that someone is thinking about them, provide companionship, and assist older adults in maintaining connections within their community.  If you are interested in using this service or in volunteering, click the pertinent link for printable info, or contact the SCFB office 703-323-4788.

Shopping Assistance
Volunteers take older adults no longer able to drive to local grocery stores, banks, beauty parlors, and other outings, on Tuesday afternoons and Friday mornings.  For more information, call the SCFB office.

Caregiver Support Groups
2nd and 4th Tuesday Support Group meetings are held to provide information and encouragement to those caring for someone with dementia - spouse, other family member, friend, etc. and for those who would like to learn more about providing caregiving to a person with a disorder that affects memory and cognition and may also impact behavior and physical abilities.
These are two separate groups, one meeting on each second Tuesday of the month, the other, the fourth Tuesday. Choose one or the other - not both.
